Suica is the most popular Felica transit card in Japan that can precharge money and pay without cash.

Also, Suica can be associated with your credit card and be able to recharge online.
Suica service was originally started as Japan Railway(JR) deposited cards for not needing to buy a ticket from the vendor.
Now a day, some similar cards like PASMO and ICOCA, and so on, are existed and categorized as “Transit IC”.

They can use not only the train or bus but almost all stores and some vendors in Japan.
In this article, I will explain how to get Suica and how to use it to enjoy your trip or your life in Japan!
How to get Suica
Firstly, described as above, Suica was originally a JR card, so Suica can be bought at JR station.
Also other transportation companies like Metro in Tokyo, PASMO can be obtained. And around in Osaka, ICOCA.
The appearance is different, however, nowadays, they are all the same system.
But Suica has a Smartphone app and can be associated with your credit card, I recommended to choose Suica.
At JR station, you can buy Suica from the ticket vendor or the station office named “みどりの窓口”.
In June 2024, sales of the new SUICA have been suspended due to a shortage of semiconductors.

Now you can charge in Suica and enter the station trough the ticket gate touching the sencer by your card.
Transit IC has compatibility with almost all other transportation companies,
so you can use Suica in the metro, other private railway compan, ies and buses.
