How to Fix the Issue When the FlowJo Dongle Is No Longer Recognized on Mac OS Sequoia

This article describes how to fix when the FlowJo Dongle is no longer recognized by Flowjo on Mac Sequoia.

Please refer to the official instructions. This method differs slightly from the official one.

First, in my environment, the dongle was mounted but not recognized.

When I opened Disk Utility, the name of the USB was somehow showing as ‘NO NAME’.

Therefore, right-click and select ‘Rename’, then change the name to ‘FJTHUMB’.

By doing this, FlowJo was likely able to recognize the dongle, and I was able to open it.

This method differs from the official one, so please proceed at your own risk.
Additionally, you will need to perform this task every time the dongle is mounted.

If the device is still not recognized after following the steps above, please check the mount point in Disk Utility.

It appears that following the official instructions may create a mount point named FJTHUMB on the Macintosh HD. As a result, when the USB drive is mounted, macOS assigns it a different mount point such as FJTHUMB 1 instead of FJTHUMB.

In this situation, the device will not be recognized correctly, even if its displayed name appears to be FJTHUMB.

To resolve the issue, rename the FJTHUMB folder on the Macintosh HD to a different name, then verify that the USB drive is mounted with the exact mount point FJTHUMB (without any additional characters such as “1”).
